Abstract:
»The subject of the work is the analysis and interpretation of selected works of Polish literature from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in relation to the issue of rape. The considerations covered the profiles of three characters - Kaśka from "Kaśka Caryatid" by Gabriela Zapolska, Gypsy from "Intermezzo" by Maria Komornicka and Róża from "Foreigner" by Maria Kuncewiczowa. The attention then focuses on the means of expression used by the female writers and their methods of portraying the crime of rape, as well as on those elements of women's biographies that indicate a probable personal experience of sexual violence. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the issue of rape, although very important, is still not a sufficiently explored topic.«
